Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Commissioner Caroline Pham is looking for nominations to join the CFTC’s new CEO Innovation Council, the federal regulator announced on Tuesday.

Per a November 25 press release, Pham is requesting that members of the public nominate those who would be a good fit for the CEO Innovation Council, as well as “propose potential topics to prioritize” as the agency looks to expand its prediction markets regulation.

Additionally, Pham is “calling upon CEOs to join us in shaping responsible regulations that will lay the foundation for America’s Golden Age of Innovation.”

“The CFTC stands ready to carry out our mission over expanded markets and products, including crypto and digital assets, and ensure our markets remain vibrant and resilient while protecting all participants,” Pham said. “In order to hit the ground running, it is critical that the CFTC drives public engagement with the support of expert industry leaders and visionaries who are building the future.”

Mike Selig Sees CFTC Nomination Advance

News of Pham’s latest initiative comes nearly a week after the Senate Agriculture Committee voted to advance U.S. President Donald Trump’s CFTC chairman nominee, Mike Selig, to a full Senate vote.

Selig, who most recently led the SEC’s Crypto Task Force as chief counsel, took to X on October 25 to say he was “honored” to spearhead the CFTC.

“With the President’s leadership, a Great Golden Age for America’s Financial Markets and a Wealth of New Opportunities stand before us,” Selig said.

“I pledge to work tirelessly to facilitate Well-Functioning Commodity Markets, promote Freedom, Competition and Innovation, and help the President make the United States the Crypto Capital of the World,” he added.

Meanwhile, Pham previously announced that she would leave the CFTC once a new agency head was sworn in.

Although specifics regarding her future plans have yet to be announced, she is expected to return to the private sector following her resignation.
